Look for a program called Cleaner from Discreet. I started out using the WinMovieMaker 2.0 for a while and then my partner introduced me to Cleaner and I've been using it ever since. I plan to go back through and redo the videos that I made in WMM2.0 with cleaner once I get more time. I'll admit that it is a pain in the butt to learn how to use at first, but after you get the hang of it, it's pretty cool. It can convert MPEG, Real, Quicktime, Windows and a couple other formats. I don't know the costs since he already owned it but i'm impressed so far.
