Three words: Official AVC/AAC Support. It's somewhat smoother than the plugin I got for 0.61 for TCPMP and AVC playback, and they're also mentioning that they're improving the decoding engine for that as well as they've been working on the algorithms for the CoreAVC software. Many of the features which are missing right now (
AC3 support, mappable buttons) are going back in, and the talk about being able to download customized builds of CorePlayer which include exactly what you need in terms of components (which, in my opinion matches the plugin functionality of TCPMP... not that I used that much anyways, as I can only think of the SRT plugin as an example of a third-party plugin) keeps me tuned into it at the moment.
And as noted, it's much smoother playing certain types of files with AAC and AVC (h.264), so I've been able to transcode videos to those codecs and improve video quality and reduce file sizes.
