Microsoft have never been interested in creating an
alternative to other OS:es.
They make money.
If they spend alot of money on a product it WILL sell. It's as simple as that. Step by step we'll get forced to upgrade. It isn't a choice unless you go Apple or *nix.
I'll wait until I have to upgrade or buy a console for gaming and go with *BSD, Linux or OSX:ish.
Linux is getting there. Try it. You'll probably be surprised if you haven't already.
Oh, and the security issues will be fun to read about since they are making the same statement about Vista as they made about XP: It's secure.
