Incidentally, just got the Belkin SnapNType for X50. Of course, I didn't have it for a full day before I opened it up; it had four No.0 philips screws on the back, in plain view! Initial tear-down is encouraging; the keyboard (silver color) contains all the electronics and comes off of the base unit (black), which contains the entire holder assembly, and the keyboard is tethered by three wires to the base, so it could be easily placed somewhere else. The keys themselves are stickied to the circuit board, and no screws fasten the circuit board to the plastic case.

Only one problem; I have failed thus far to get the keyboard to operate as advertised at all. This may be due to damage done to my X50's bottom connector by the faulty Axim cradle.

Once I get it working, I see me appropriating the D-pad and buttons from an old PS controller and mounting them together with an external battery for a killer game platform.

Yes, I realize I need some photos. At work now, so these will have to wait.
