I think that free apps like Batti allow you to get more info. The way I do it is to use Resco Explorer (Today Plug-in) to display more battery information (and more beside). There are other apps displaying similar sorts of info: iLauncher (which I also have), SPB Pocket Plus and Battery Pack Pro.
