Have you tried a glare reducing screen protector? I use GPS with my X50v all the time and the screen is just fine. In fact, in bright sunlight, it's actually better if the sun is directly on the screen. The low sun angles in the winter cause the light to go across the screen, highlighting the dust. But that's a problem with any screen.
