They've even got the classic controller working, from what I've heard, so I think someone could do something really impressive, even just using the wiimote or the sixaxis as a gamepad without any of their motion sensing features.

I just did some research and it turns out that the sixaxis for windows drivers only work through usb - so that makes it pretty useless for our purposes for now.
The wiimote on the other hand DOES look extremely friendly from a development standpoint. Sadly, I do not have a wii, but I am serious enough to at least buy a wiimote for an attempt to write these axim drivers. Unfortunately I cannot find these on store shelves right now, so I'll have to look into borrowing one from a friend or something.
The classic pad would be PERFECT if it were wireless, but sadly, it is not. You plug it into the wiimote and then you can use it. This is pretty lame of Nintendo in my opinion, and makes using it with an axim a cumbersome affair. So I guess the best we can hope for is to use the wiimote on its side - two buttons, that's two fewer than the NES ... sigh.
