I second that! Invest in a USB CF reader/writer. It is so much faster than using activesync. Part of the reason why activesync takes so long is the conversion process copying a file from the PC to the Axim. There is no need for this conversion to use the files. The conversion process is on by default when you install Activesync. You can turn it off but I am not sure how much help it will be.
A 6-in-1 Media Reader/Writer is very cheap these days and you can use it for your CF cards as well as SD/MMC and any other media cards you may have.
