Ok - seem to have found a fix... if not a solve:
The part above about the NERO encoder got me to Nero's site, where I was able to register my product and receive the Nero Showtime Mobile application. Installed it, and *presto* the video works nearly perfectly. Not quite as nice as the ones I've played through TCPMP, but darn close.
Anyway - I can now watch my shows happily. I just wonder what the difference is? I will still use TCPMP as my #1 of course (I love that program), but for these shows, at least I can watch!
I'll check battery for Nero vs. TCPMP and report back if anyone is interested.
