Onscreen joypad buttons?

Hi there, I have ordered my new Dell axim x51v and am eagerly awaiting it. I know its not meant to be a sony PSP etc but I was wondering if anyone knew of any software which would let parts of the screen be mapped to buttons which can be used to play games eg in FPSce? I can see in youtube videos and screenshots that FPSce seems to have its own virtual joypad but it sits at the bottom in portrait mode. What I am more interested in is something like tony hawks pro skater where the directional pad on the axim is used as a normal direction button and then when the axim is rotated to landscape model, the right most part of the screen functions as buttons to use in the game. In addition it has transparency so it not so intruding to the gameplay. Here's the link to the video on youtube:

i was wondering if there was a way to have this in all games or is this something specific to tony hawks?

Sorry if this a newbiw question, would have posted in newbie section but I thought it might be appropriate here. Please move it if it is in the wrong forum

Thanks for you help in advance :)
