New Problem with ActiveSync
I've written about my prior problems with AS which suddenly started out of the blue last fall. I finally did a hard reset and then reloaded some software, but not all. Things were going pretty good there for a while, everything syncing, although, I have to say, not that speedily. At times, I waited for screens to appear for what seemed to be too long a time. In December, my cell phone contract was up and I decided to bite the bullet and get a Blackberry Pearl. Yes, I know, that sounds like heresy, but what could I do, it was calling my name. I've now had the Pearl for about a month and everything works well. The synchronization is lightning fast, even though it uses Intellisync as the go-between the RIM software and Outlook. It's one extra step, but surprisingly, it takes no time at all. In addition, the Blackberry Desktop Manager asks you if you want to backup when you first open the Manager, and the backup is twice as fast as Spb Backup or other software programs of that type. I really enjoy the push e-mail feature and the browser works smoothlyl, as does Google maps, which is a neat feature. So far no glitches. I've decided that with the exception of google maps and perhaps a similiar program like Spb Diary, and e-Wallet, both of which are available for BB's under other names, I'm not going to load the BB with all sorts of software. Now, here's the funny part. about a week ago, I noticed that my Axim X51V which I have cradled on my desk at home and at work, was not active via AS. I attempted to reboot the PC and did soft resets on the Axim, but to no avail. The Axim refused to sync. I have now tried to sync unsuccessfully for the past four days and I get nothing. Maybe the Axim is protesting the fact that I got a Blackberry. Who knows, but it does seem coincidental that where one is working so well, the other decided to stop working. I suppose I'll do a hard reset and start anew, but MS should really address this AS issue. It is a big one! I'll still be around here, even though I now am a regular on the Blackberryforums site, which like this one is great, but I've got to say that if this continues with AS, you may lose me. Please don't get me wrong, I really like the Axim, but I fear that the day of the smartphone is upon us.
