I use GSPlayer. It has a lot of sound control enhancemants like equalizer, 3D, reverb, surround. You can save your adjustments and your playlists, the sound quality is great and the battery lasts like forever.

If you search the web you will find a VGA version and two VGA skins.

And it is also freeware.

Give it a try.
