Incidentally, the CoreAVC and CoreAAC plugins that showed up about two years ago were pulled by the Core team after they discovered that there were copyright issues involved... so I won't state the obvious. However, the CoreAVC support in CorePlayer is better than that in the CoreAVC plugin for TCPMP that's floating around; the results showed about 10% improvement in framerates during benchmarking - the results are on the CoreCodec forums.
One thing that you'll notice with h.264 decoding is that it does suck up a lot more CPU time, due to the more processor-intensive nature of the calculations as well as the lack of hardware acceleration available with XviD/DivX on the part of the Intel 2700g.
