lzx32.sys is probably a corrupted file. we all know that when uninstalling, windows doesnt remove everything.
Do a complete uninstall. Then check to see that the /Program FIles/Microsoft Activesync folder is deleted.
Boot in safe mode (F5 while booting)
Start>Search...make sure hidden folders and files option is checked and search for that lzx32.sys file. If found. delete it.
Reboot back to normal and install activesync to see if that fixed the problem. If not, then you more than likely have a hardware issue.
Activesync not only uses your RAM (which could show in other programs) but uses the USB bus/CPU in a wierd way. (not sure how to explain it) On my old PC, the motherboard bus controller went out with no indication to any of my peripherials, but activesync did not like it. Had to buy new board.
