Moreover, AS will only sync if there are changes to the information tagged for synchronisation and not continuously.
If the pc or laptop is that low on memory, Activesync is likely to be the least of your worries.

You may well be correct but did you consider your CPU processing power in relation to multitasking for less capable CPUs i.e slower or older systems. I'm only guessing.
