Syncing Contacts

This question has been asked earlier, but it doesn't seem to have been adequately answered.
The problem is in syncing contacts. ActiveSync on both the desktop and the Axim, has the Contacts greyed out and you can't change the settings. On the Axim, the partnership is set to a generic 'Windows PC' instead of the name I have given my PC myself. Sometimes in trying to get things working, I have two partnerships in the Axim, one the generic and the other is the name I gave my PC myself.
I'm using ActiveSync 4.5, and Outlook 2003. Has anyone else encountered this problem, and found the fix?
