Well I'll Be Darned
Ok I figured it out - well i fixed it. Not sure of the why only the how.
I had installed Novii's WAWA. And after removing it from my start-up programs my today screen is working perfectly :). go figure.
Guess I should let the people who make WAWA know about this.
