The best way to convert your DVDs into H264 encodes optimized for your PDA is to use "StaxRip" and when setting the resolution, set it to "anamorphic" and select the first value to about 320-380 pixels and set the quality to 50% and the profile to HQ-INSANE. Image Quality with these settings is awesome on my Axim X50v. DivX and XviD were replaced by this new awesome codec. Go and try it out!

If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask.

>> for example, The Lord of the Rings : The Return of the King (which has about 3:15hrs) was shrinked to approximately 300MB file, whilst maintaining awecome quality!"

First off... let me say that this is incredible. I can watch movies on my PDA, wahoo!!! So... here are a couple of questions after my first several attempts...

Using TCPMP. H264+AAC on a Dell Axim X50v....... I downloaded DVD decrypter and am using that to rip the DVD following the instructions on this link... http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...light=tutorial

Once the DVD was ripped, I used AutoGordianKnot to encode it (don't know if I'm saying that part right). I did The Matrix, and found out that I had selected the wrong audio (the one that included the directors comments), but the movie turned out great. Everything worked, and the .avi file was 475 MB. Oh... and this was done on an NFTS file system computer, so when it was ripped, only 1 file.

Next DVD was The Prestige. Using the same programs... but on a FAT32 file system, I followed the same procedure to make this .avi file. The result was a little different... the sound is 1 second off when I play it on my PDA. Is there any way to fix this, or did I make some type of mistake when encoding it? This file was also 475 MB.

The third attempt was using the same files for The Prestige when decrypted by the DVD Decrypter. I used StaxRip to encode it, but somehow there is no audio in the file now. The file is only 120 megs and runs equally to that of the previous one, but what did I do wrong? Well... there were actually several files inside of the folder, so maybe I wasn't running the correct one.
VTS_02_PGC_01_1_EncoderOutput.264 (141MB)-- plays the movie without the sound.
VTS_02_PGC_01_1.mkv (207MB)-- freezes my PDA when trying to play

I love the smaller size and all, but I would like to be able to hear it as well. :P

Please let me know any better settings with the newer version of StaxRip that will help me, especially when doing it on a FAT32 system. I am trying StaxRip on The Godfather right now on the NFTS file computer right now, but it is very slow... like 5 hours.

Also, need to know if there is anything like settings or what not that will help me sync the sound to the picture better.

LOVE YOU GUYS.. <3 Thanks for all the great help and postings.
