Connect active sync.
Open windows explorer, find the doc you want, copy it.
Navigate to the folder you want to put it in (mobile device/etc) in windows explorer, paste the file.
It should open a box saying converting or something to that effect and then it should be on your ax.
Try opening and see what happens.

Thanks Box:) Guess what...it works with my old word 03 documents but does not convert my 07 Word documents, that's what you get for keeping up with technology
I'm thinking there is a glitch somewhere in 07 word,, my hp 6110officejet printer does not scan to 07 word, as of a couple weeks ago hp did not develop a driver for the printer that is compatible with 07.
Does anyone use 07 word succesfully transferring files?
If it matters , my Rom is version AO4..........
