LOL, I think I may be missing the point! When you connect, the PC won't delete any data - it may update contact information in the direction that
you tell it to. Synchronising with the computer doesn't erase anything unless you have updated the same record on both devices - that results in a conflict which you tell AS how to handle.
I recommend backing up as it's good practice. I have never tried to create a new partnership on a new machine with a
mature Axim, so I can only surmise that your data will remain safe but logic suggests that if ActiveSync deletes information then it is not fit for purpose. The good news is that it shouldn't matter; you can synchronise with both machines (with the exception of mail) and maintain both sets of data without difficulty.
