VOB files are one of DVD formats. If the DVD has provided language and subtitle options, the common software can only get the default language and does not show the subtitle.
If your VOB files are only one language and one subtitle, you can try SUPER from
www.erightsoft.com. It has three encoders. For VOB files, mencoder plus direct show should be OK.
