Sorry Buddy, I missed your post of the 15th and the site was such a pain yesterday, I guess I didn't search as well as I should have done.
Here's my standard list for ActiveSync problems (I know that you have tried most of them, but they bear repeating for anyone else having trouble):
- Primary USB port only - don't use a hub
- Make sure that the pins (connectors in the Axim Sync port) are not damaged or bent
- Make sure that there is sufficient memory on both devices
- Make sure that the cradle/cable is not damaged
- Check your PC's manufacturers website for upgrades/updates for the BIOS and/or firmware
- Check AV and Firewall settings
Now that I've got that out of the way :) Have you checked to make sure that you are not filtering any categories in either the PC or the ppc version of Outlook?
Have you checked to make sure that AS is set to sync
all contacts under this partnership? [AS on PC - Tools, Options..., Contacts, Settings]
Quite often, these little
glitches are caused by software conflicts or applications that don't close properly. A hard reset may clear the problem, but as soon as you restore your device from a backup, you restore the problem. If push comes to shove, I tend to:
- Make a list of all my applications and their registration numbers
- Backup my Axim
- Hard Reset my Device
- Restore the Regional Settings
- Establish a new Partnership
- Synchronise my ppc (note, I don't install any applications (particularly Today plugins, until I know that it is not a problem with the OS)
Ok, now comes the ball ache! Each application must be reinstalled separately with a soft reset in between and a synchronisation before the next application is added. Don't be tempted by short cuts! It's important to see if an application is responsible for the problem. Start with any Today Plugins.
This is why I store most stuff on a CF card: I don't need to restore files, etc because they stay safe on the card even when I take dramatic action!
Hope that the eyes are recovering and that this helps.
