TIA,

I'll bet you were syncing a Palm device with your PC before using the Axim. I found this on one of the newsgroup threads. And it worked for me. Make sure you back up your data before the hard reset. Let me know how it goes.

I hope this helps those folks who've been having trouble with AvantGo - that's built into the Pocket PC 2003 OS.

For those who haven't been keeping track, I've been unable to view AvantGo channels on my new iPaq 2215, despite the fact that I watch ActiveSync sync the channels. I went into Pocket IE, went to Favorites, and the AvantGo channels link would only display the "how do I do this".

The problem here was actually rather simple. I had been an AvantGo user on my Palm OS machine (a Handspring Visor Deluxe), and that conduit...installed a long time ago...was preventing ActiveSync from installing the proper files for the Pocket PC.

Here's how I fixed it.

I did a hard reset on my iPaq. I uninstalled the AvantGo Connect from the PC (notebook in my case) and uninstalled ActiveSync. Then I reinstalled ActiveSync and in the options list, I checked it "on". No longer spotting the old AvantGo Connect, ActiveSync went ahead and installed the proper files on the iPaq on the first sync! You'll see it actually do the process in the AvantGo part of the sync...it downloads and configures while syncing. Then, you have to go into AvantGo Connect (Settings > Connections) on the
Pocket PC, or in Options under ActiveSync, and put in your personal ID.

It then worked great!

So the upshot...if you've used AvantGo before on the desktop/notebook, UNINSTALL the PC version of AvantGo Connect before you set up and sync your Pocket PC 2003 unit. If you don't do that, ActiveSync thinks you already have AvantGo, and won't go get all those needed files.
