If you are just trying to make sure that you don't lose your contacts -- or any other files on your AXIM. That is, to make sure that you can recover and reload them to your AXIM if necessary , can I suggest that you purchase a 32-MB or 64 MB CF memory card to use as a "full system" or "database" backup. (select PROGRAMS / DATA BACKUP and backup to CF). I'm suggesting a CF card because (1) it tends to be cheaper, (2) it has a label you can write on, and (3) I'm guessing that most people have an SD card installed with files and programs, while the CF slot is usually used for communications.
Just pop in the card, select BACK UP ALL DATA or BACK UP PIM DATABASES ONLY (and select the ones you want to back up). The backup is extremely quick. Then just pull out the CF card and put it in your drawer until you want to create a new backup or need to restore. I'd suggest doing this periodically, whether you synch to your PC or not.
