On my home network the Axim is just another device with direct wireless connection through my Linksys AP. I don't connect through another computer and other computers on my network don't even need to be turned on to access my pop3 email and surf the web.
The only time I use activesync (wirelessly as well) is for:
1. Synchronizing my calendar, tasks, IE favorites, but not my Outlook inbox since I receive all my message traffic on both devices independently.
2. For loading applications and copying files from my desktop which has the WindowsCE and activesync software running on it.
The only time I'll ever need the USB cradle connection is if and when I do a hard reset and have to create a partnership all over again.
Does this make sense?
