I forgot to address your question about port numbers. With ATT broadband all I had to do was setup a new internet mail service on the Axim to my existing account using all the same data that exists on my desktop. Again the Axim is just another computer on my network, so following the steps in the Axim for setting up a pop3 service just required that I input the same username, password and inbound and outbound URLs used by ATT. When you get through this process you'll have two mail services to choose from...one is called "activesync" and the other is whatever name you gave to the new service.

The Axim new service setup prompts for:

Name - This can be anything
Username - Must match your existing mail account as in "name@attbi.com"
Password - Must match the existing password for the account
POP3 address - for ATT its just "mail.attbi.com" for both incoming and outgoing mail

The Axim new service setup by default is set to provide only message headers so you must click the box that says "Entire Message".

At no time did I have to even think about port settings. I don't know about your ISP, but I think if you match an existing service on the Axim, the required ports are automatically opened.
