As I said, my intent with the comment in the original post was
not to imply what any one, Christians or non Christians, are doing with their own children. I was merely expressing what I believed/
hoped that
I would have done and by expressing it, to paint a picture of my own attitudes toward religion.
and I suppose to pay a compliment to Star although I’ll keep this fact somewhat to myself so none of his personalities get a swelled head. It sounds like there’s not enough room in there as it is.

That’s a good point although I’ve often heard the phrase you used, “I
believe with all my heart…” expressed by people as “I
know with all my heart…” and not just in the context of religious issues. While your definitions are completely correct, I wonder if popular use (maybe even due to geographical differences) has resulted in some people using the word
know in this context automatically. I do agree completely with you that it’s pretty hard to swallow when it’s followed by “and you’re going to hell if you don’t also believe this.” Like Mrs. Scheisskopf, that’s not the kind of G-d I don’t believe in.
