btw. my first Ipaq, a 5450 was also in german and I wanted to have it in english, so I was lucky. It felt to the ground and did not start anymore. I was inside the warranty, sent it to HP and left a small piece of paper with it containing the text:
"If necessary to flash the ROM, English is preferred"
and voila after getting it back it was english
I also made a cross language upgrade with the description above on a 5450 but it was some days ago.
