WMP will not play .mpeg's. Check the 'Download' section for links to PocketMVP and PocketTV. PMVP will play many formats and is the only one (I think) that can play .avi).
I also recommed you read the Multimedia forum re: encoding your own video's. It's not difficult to do, reduces the file size by up to 90% depending on your starting format, and can adjust to make the vid play the best as possible on the Ax.
