What if you didn't have the CD-Rom with you and needed to reinstall ActiveSync? You can download ActiveSync 3.6, but you still need the USB drivers. Dell put them up because people were all over their case for not providing them. There is NO difference between those on the FTP site and those on the CD-ROM...
