Cannot sync with Outlook and Axim

Every time I try to sync my outlook diary with my Axim I get an error message "there was no response from your mobile while checking out of date appointments. Disconnect yur device and try again or reset device."

I have done all this, reloaded active sync, but problems persist. Any help??
