Technically speaking, they would have to honor all previously sold licenses, so all pre-existing users of the plain-jane WiFi Companion should have no further problems installing and running the program.
This does mean that if you have Technical Support issues for WiFi Companion working with non-Socket hardware, then you may have problems. However, I cannot see Socket failing to honor such technical support requests...
