A good story. I love people. I love my family. I love my dogs. I don't think jesus invented love nor is he the only source. :)
I think if some one can't love themselves for who they are, their problems run deep, and an easy out like, "jesus loves everyone and we love you no matter what." is very inviting.
Obivously this isn't the case for everyone, I don't mean to imply that. Choosing the christian life is certainly a valid option.
