Thanks for everyone's suggestions.

Here's what I ended up doing...

Win XP System Restore to before installing Active Sync. Disabled my Hotsync software for my Sony Clie (I'm thinking this was the program that screwed things up initially). Reinstalled AS 3.6, setup partnership, and verified it was syncing properly. Then I got the killsync util to shutdown AS. Loaded up Hotsync to sync with my Clie. Verified that was working, and then shut that down.

So, both seem to be working fine now syncing with the same Outlook profile (when run separately). I'm thinking what happened initially was I sync'd the AXIM and then tried syncing the Clie right after. That probably confused Outlook and messed it up good... to the point of unrecovery. Thankfully Microsoft got something finally right with the system restore functionality.
