One issue with ActiveSync has to do with Internet Explorer on the PC. I've never seen this confirmed, but my suspicion has been that the automatic updates from M$ (to fix security issues) causes some of these problems. One solution (suggested on the
ActiveSync Troubleshooting Guide) is to run the repair utility in IE. I'm not sure it will work in your situation but it's worth a try.
