Since it is a japan lexar card, and those are one of the best SD cards money can buy, I dont think it will fail completely, If I were you, I'd format the card (you can do it with your card reader, and in windows, right-click on the drive that your card reader makes your SD card, and click format, select FAT, and click format)

Then, put the card back in your axim, I dont think you will have any problems with it. Also, blow in the SD slot, just to clear out any dust or anything that may have gotten in there (make sure not to spit in it :p)

As well, make sure the LOCK switch on your SD card is up and not down (as in unlocked and not locked)
