I think that the keyboard is quite handy. I type pretty fast (even with half of the key-hits being backspaces) and I find that the feel of the PocketOp is such that allows me to still type at a very good clip. I haven't measured WPM, but perhaps I will at some point soon. You might want to look around and see if you can find a local store that has the MicroInnovations keyboard out and available for tryout. It is the same keyboard as the PocketOp and it would allow you to get a feel before buying it mailorder (or you could buy it locally and return it if you don't like it). CompUSA, OfficeMax, OfficeDepot, and RadioShack all carry the MicroInnovation, although the only one I saw out of the plastic case and avilable to actually pound away on was at one of the Office* places.
As for the stand, there is one that will allow you to put the Axim at the optimal angle for PocketOp usage. This has the Axim rotated on its side with the screen put into landscape mode using the PocketOp supplied driver. This seems to give the best results for using the PocketOp. There is an option to use a "mirror" that lets you keep the Axim vertical, but I think it is too much of a pain in the a** to be worthwhile. There is a picture of the PocketOp and Axim in operation, as well as a little more feedback on one user's opinion here:
