Also, keep in mind that it is not just previously-problematic Axims that get stuck on the refurb site. Anytime an Axim is returned, it is looked over, and then stuck on the refurb website if everything is functioning correctly (or fixed beforehand if it is not).

Many people, as bad as it may be, just move from product to product taking advantage of Return Policies. Keeping the Axim for 14 days or whatever, and then returning it after they've had their fun with it.

I saw this a TON of time at the store I worked for. There was one guy, a preacher at that, who would do this same routine. He first came in and bought an iPaq, came back on the 14th day, and said he wanted to exchange it for another model. He did this 7 times in a row, before we finally got permission from corporate HQ to not allow this anymore. At that point, he drove an hour to the next closest store of ours, in hopes of doing the same thing. Luckily though, we'd already contacted them and made them aware of the problem.....so he was not able to continue this.

But basically, each one of these returns was forced to be marked as an Open Box (kind of like refurbished), at a reduced cost. So I'm sure that Dell has many customers that do the same thing, meaning that not all 500 of these Axims had problems.
