Disable any firewalls you have running (including the one built-in on WinXP) and see if that lets you have access.
Alternatively, if your Axim's name still includes the underscore, change it (on the Axim) and make sure to not include any unusual characters. After doing this, you'll need to re-establish the partnership with the USB cable/cradle before doing the WiFi connection.
