Unlike everyone else, I'd encourage you to go with the 300 model. There's no real reason to get the 400 other than the larger memory, and you can make up for it with a CF or SD card.

Upgrading to Pocket PC 2003 is a total unknown with either one, since Microsoft has been tight-lipped about the required specs -- there's a good chance that it won't run on EITHER one, and I'm not about to gamble another $100 on that. If Pocket PC 2003 is that much better when it comes out, I'll get a future version of the Axim with it preloaded and give my X5 to my little sister.
