Is it mad slow if you do it throught the cradle?

Well, depends on your patience factor. I've been using CF cards for about 4 years now and the first digital camera had a serial connection cable. I use it to download my first images from the camera. When I woke up and saw that the download was still in progress, I ordered the parallel reader from Sandisk. (USB readers were not available) I would not go back! I now use CF cards like floppy disks, moving info/data/images between desktop/camera/laptop/Axim.
Readers and PCMCIA adapters are cheap and well worth the small investment. USB cradle/cable for the Axim does a good job, but not quite as fast.
