WM2003 was a stopgap release (sort of like Windows Me) WM2004 will apparently be a total overhaul of the OS. There are reports about it scattered within these boards and on other PDA sites like Brighthand. If you look around you should be able to find a bunch of info.
If you can make it through this holiday season without splurging on a gadget :) then I would recommend waiting a bit, that way you will have a better chance of getting a WM2004 compatible device that you will be able to upgrade when it does come out.
