I am not sure that I really understand your post. No desktop programs will run on any PDA - they use a completely different operating system.
ActiveSync will transfer Excel files to work on Pocket Excel by converting them to *.PXL files, but Pocket Excel is a very cut down version of Excel 97 or 2000 and is very restricted.
If you want to do serious spreadsheet work on your Axim, use SpreadCE from
byedesign.freeserve.co.uk. This will do everything that Excel 2000 will do and even has a few functions that Excel does not have. It will read and write true *.xls files to and from your PC. It is riduculously cheap ay $20.00
