From what I've heard Socket cards have flawless driver support in WM2003 (guess I should have paid the extra money back when I was buying a wifi card after all). I don't know about the activesync issues, but I have read a lot of posts from people having some sort of trouble with their Truemobile cards. This is not to say they are trouble free in PPC 2002, because they aren't, but at least there are workarounds that work in PPC 2002. In 2003 it sounds like even those are defeated.
It isn't my intention to badmouth the X5 when I say this, because I haven't had any real problems with the PDA itself. However, the next time I am buying a PPC it will definitely have integrated wifi. Dealing with these sorts of issues down the road with add-on cards just isn't worth it.
Back to WM2003, I find myself in a weird position now, because I bought the upgrade (back in June) thinking I would go ahead with it, but then when I finally got it, I started to actually wonder if I should. Now I have a $30 upgrade CD on my hands that I feel compelled to use, and yet at the same time I question the wisdom of doing so. The worst part is that recently I decided to wait to see if there would be a new WM2003 ROM revision that would fix many of these issues, but it just occured to me today that a update like that would be highly unlikely since Dell would have to then mail free CD's out to everyone who bought WM2003 (they wouldn't be able to post any upgrades online for the same reason that they had to pull the A04 -> A05 update). So I have a bad feeling now that the current version of WM2003 may be it for us X5 users.
