Very correct, sir. I'm not sure of what the manufacturer themselves make off of the systems, but I bet it's not much (if anything). I know first-hand that retail stores themselves actually
LOSE about $5 - $15 on each game console that is sold. A
very slight amount more is made by a retail store on the games. And the
HUGE profits come from all the accessories that most gamers buy.
So basically.....Systems are marked below store cost. Games are marked up just a hair over store cost. And accessories are marked up anywhere from around 50% all the way up to 700+% over store cost.
I'd be very interested to see if the manufacturer even makes profit off the systems, or if they just make it up in accessories/games/books/etc. as well.
