Dell's only fault in this, really, is not anticipating that Axims would sell like hotcakes. That's the only reason there's any problems; their ordering and support infrastructure simply wasn't adequate for the situation.
Their business model makes sense; if they tried to have everything in one centralized warehouse (which would make things "fair" in that it would always be first come, first served), they would have to pay ludicrous shipping. It's like retail stores; sometimes your local store is out of stock and one in another area isn't.
