Mobility Site - View Single Post - Arkon Powered Mount. What is this piece for?

I just got my mount in the mail today and it comes with a metal oval disc. Reading the instructions it just says its and "optional" component to be used with the magnetic back of the arkon mount. What is this disc for? I don't see any use of it, but it did have it's own plastic baggy.
