I had been experiencing intermittent problems with my backup battery. Every once in a while I would get a message telling me to charge my backup battery. When I looked at the battery meter is showed the backup battery at 0%. If I took out the backup battery and reinserted it, the percentage would go back to 100%. This made me suspect that the battery was not making a good contact.

I also noticed the cover over the backup battery compartment didn’t seem to fit very tight. To remedy the problem I simply took a very small piece of foam padding an inserted it between the inside of the battery compartment cover and the top of the backup battery. I was very careful to make sure this piece of foam would not interfere with the battery’s contacts.

This seems to have corrected both the loose fit of the cover as well as the backup battery contact problem.

Am wondering if there are others who have a loose cover on the backup battery compartment, and if there are any concerns I should have about inserting this small piece of foam?
