yes doom9 is a great site, i would recomend there way of encoding, vdubmod is great and using avisynth speeds things up alot , also if ripping a dvd (yv12 colour space), there is no colour conversion so speed is increased and acuracy. also you can use avisynth to do ALL your filtering and therefore speed thing up again, i would recomend a 2pass encode using xvid and ogg vorbis audio, i here you can get players for pdas that play these.

if you convert your movie to a different fps , you wil lneed to convert your audio too, no?
