Are you shutting down the programs before you turn off the X3? If you are new to PPCs, you may not be aware that the upper right X does not actually close programs (it's more similar to the minimize function on the PC). If a lot of programs are open when you press the off button, they need to reinitialize on startup, which can produce some lag.

Some people do a soft reset before turning their PPCs off for an extended period. Alternatively, you can use Start, Settings, System (tab), Memory, Running Programs (tab) to see and shut down running programs or you can also use the switcher bar utility (Start, Settings, System (tab), Switcher Bar) which puts a small icon on your menu bar. A better solution for me is to use IcBar which adds the functionality of just using the upper right X to really close the programs (some people like Wisbar which also provides this utility).

One other possible reason for the slow start up is if you have an sd memory card that does not have a 'My Documents' folder. If this is the case, create the folder on your card and delete the ignore_my_docs file that has been created on the card.
